Code of Conduct for Students

The College believes that duty, decorum, and discipline are the hallmarks of a good student. Students with such qualities alone can prove to be productive manpower with an appreciable value system. Therefore, erring students would be subjected to certain disciplinary codes. The Management reserves the right to modify any of the Institute rules as and when necessary. The decision of the Management in all matters shall be final.

COLLEGE HOURS

Monday to Saturday: 9am to 4pm

Clinical Hours:

Morning Shift: 8am to 2pm

Evening Shift: 2pm-8pm

Night Shift: 8pm to 8am

Library Timings
  • Monday to Saturday: 9am to 5pm.
  • During the working days, students are expected to use the library at 4-5 pm.
Office Timings
  • Monday to Saturday: 8:30am to 4pm / 9am to 5pm
DRESS CODE:
B.Sc Nursing Students

Female Students:

  • Students shall come clean, tidy and modestly dressed in White Shirt, Black Pant (Trouser) with Black Socks and Shoes, hair-up and ID card of college. (Jeans, T-shirts, leggings, short kurties and free hair is not permitted)
  • On Clinical training: Prescribed White Shirt, Black Pant (Trouser), Apron with Black Socks and Shoes, ID card is must.
  • For Community Posting: Light Purple Shirt with white trouser (Salwar) with Apron.

For Male students:

  • Students shall come clean, tidy and modestly dressed in Light Purple Shirt, Black Pant (Trouser) with Black Socks and Shoes and ID card of college. (Jeans, T-shirts, is not permitted)
  • On Clinical training: Prescribed Light Purple Shirt, Black Pant (Trouser), Apron with Black Socks and Shoes, ID card is must.
  • For Community Posting: Light Purple Shirt with Black pant (Trouser) and Apron.
G.N.M. Students

For Female Students:

  • Students shall come clean, tidy, and modestly dressed in a Light Purple Shirt with White Trouser (Salwar), Black Socks, and Shoes, hair-up, and ID card of college.
  • On Clinical training: Prescribed Light Purple Shirt with White Trouser (Salwar), Apron with Black Socks and Shoes, ID card is a must.

For Male Students:

  • Students shall come clean, tidy, and modestly dressed in a Light Purple Shirt, Black Pant (Trouser) with Black Socks and Shoes, and ID card of college. (Jeans, T-shirts, is not permitted)
  • On Clinical training: Prescribed Light Purple Shirt, Black Pant (Trouser), Apron with Black Socks and Shoes, ID card is a must.
  • For Community Posting: Light Purple Shirt with Black pant (Trouser) and Apron.

IN WINTERS: Black Sweater/Blazer is compulsory for all the students.

Academic Rules and Regulations

Course Completion: The date of course completion will be calculated as per the date of admission of the students according to the program.

  • FOR G.N.M - 3 Years from the date of admission
  • FOR B.SC NURSING - 4 Years from the date of admission
ATTENDANCE
  • Students should attend all classes and clinical duties regularly.
  • Attendance will be taken for every subject. Students coming late to the class beyond five minutes will not be marked attendance for that period.
  • The Indian Nursing Council New Delhi and Pt.B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak prescribes a minimum 80% theory attendance and 100% clinical attendance for B.Sc Nursing in every subject and for G.N.M minimum 75% theory attendance and 100% clinical attendance. Students are eligible for scholarship only when they earn more than 90% of attendance.
  • Students are not permitted to absent themselves without prior permission.
  • An application for leave/leaves must be submitted in the prescribed form well in advance or at least 24 hours before the leave is required.
  • Absence without prior permission can avail in case of emergency, the leave application must be submitted on the day of return to the College.
PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS:

All students will be assessed for their performance in theory and clinical areas during the semester/annual through:

Theory Internal Assessment

  • Periodic written examinations.
  • Other methods like assignments, seminars, projects, OSCE etc. will be added to the internal marks.

Practical Internal Assessment:

  • Practical examination will be conducted in hospitals and concerned laboratory.
  • Other methods like assignments, case study, clinical presentation, planned health education programme and drug file will be added to the internal marks.

Note: 10% weightage will be provided to participation in extra curricular activities.

EXAMINATIONS, STUDY HOLIDAY AND VACATIONS

Hall Tickets for Examination: Hall tickets will be issued from the principal’s office three days before the examination.

RESULTS:
  • Students have to pass both internal and external exams separately in each subject.
  • The student has to score 50% in both theory and practical examination separately to pass the subject.
Study Holidays:

Study holidays are given for all the students to prepare for their examinations based on the number of papers they are appearing in a particular semester/session.

Vacations:

Summer Vacation- 1 week, Winter Vacation- 1 week

Sick Leave:
  • Sick student must inform to the class coordinator/Principal timely.
  • If a student avail more than 3 days sick leave then he/she has to submit medical certificate along with leave application.
  • No leave will be sanctioned during the Sessional/Final exams unless emergency.

Compensation:

  • If any student exceeding 20% of leave in theory, need to compensate before appearing in final University Examination.
  • Unauthorized absence / extension of leave following any permitted leave (Vacation / Festivals) need to be compensated within a month.
  • Absences over 7 days during clinical posting, for genuine reasons, must be make -up before semester exams to achieve 100% attendance.
  • If not possible during the semester, compensate during study leaves or before vacation, provided clinical requirements need to completed before final examinations.
LIBRARY RULES
  • All registered students of GMNCON can become a member of Book Bank.
  • Student can issue two books for a period of 10 days under Book Bank facility.
  • Late submission will be charged @ Rs.10/day/book.
  • Damaged books are neither be issued nor be accepted. In case book is lost/damaged the penalty to the tune of 1.5 times of the actual cost of book will be imposed.
  • Book bank facility is exclusively available for members only, non-member if found involved will be penalized by imposing a fine of Rs.2500/- .
  • Book bank facility will remain open during exam days/Summer/Winter Vacations too.
  • Facility for photo copying is available at library.
  • Mobile phones, food and drinks are strictly prohibited inside the library.
STUDENT WELFARE ACTIVITIES

Annual Health Checkup:

  • Annual health checkup is done for all students every year and vaccinated for Hepatitis B.
  • Annual Picnics and retreats are arranged every year.

Guidance and Counselling:

  • Every student will be allotted to a mentor (teacher) in the college to provide individual guidance and counseling with regard to their study habits, learning styles, health, adjustment problems, clinical practice, etc.
  • Tutorial /Remedial classes will be arranged for slow learners.

Parent Teachers Meeting:

  • Parents Teachers meetings are conducted regularly in every semester.
  • Will discuss about the performance of their wards.

Parents/Visitors are permitted to meet Principal with prior permission except in case of emergency.


EXTRA AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
  • Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular and co-curricular activities to exhibit their talents and leadership qualities.
  • The GMN College of Nursing observes all the National and International health days in coordination with the department concerned.
  • Students are permitted to participate in regional/state/national cultural and sports competitions.

SPECIFIC RULES FOR STUDENT DISCIPLINE

Anti Ragging
  • Ragging is strictly prohibited in the campus and it is a legal offence.
  • Every student has to submit an anti-ragging declaration on admission to the course.
  • Anyone indulging in ragging or any such unlawful activities will be liable for disciplinary action.
  • Any incident which occurs in campus must be reported to the Principal/ Class coordinator / hostel warden without undue delay.
Hostel
  • As per the INC (Indian Nursing Council) norms (File No:1-5 (GB)Cir/2011 dated 03/01/2012) hostel is compulsory for all students of all the nursing programme, no excuse in this regard shall be entertained.
  • Every student has to fill up Hostel Admission Form in duplicate on or before the prescribed date.
  • Hostel admission form along with prescribed fee to be deposited in the college office for further necessary action.
  • The I/C Hostel or Warden will allot the room to the students.
  • The Hostel rooms are available on sharing basis and maximum number of three students will be allowed to stay in a room.
  • All rooms are equipped with Bed (Cot), Study Table, Chair, Ward Robe, Fan, Cooler, Curtains, CFL/Tube light etc.
  • The students are advised not to use Loud Speakers, Music Systems, Iron, Heaters etc. In case of violations, a fine of Rs.500/- shall be imposed.
  • The material allotted to the students is the property of the college and the students are supposed to return the same in good condition, if damage cost will be recovered accordingly.
  • The students are advised to maintain peace in the hostel and in case of any problem contact Warden / In-charge / Principal to solve their problem.
  • Guests are not allowed in the Hostel.
  • It is the responsibility of the students to keep their rooms neat and clean.
  • Students are not allowed to stay out or go out without prior permission of the Warden / Principal.
  • Night Outs are allowed only & only if Parents request is accompanied with Application.
  • The students will be allowed to go to market once in a month that too along with Warden / Faculty / Asst. Warden.
  • Students are advised not to use the mobiles in excess in hostel.
  • No student can leave the Hostel in between the Session and if desire so, will have to remit the entire fee.
  • Detailed Menu in consultation with students is prepared and implemented in true letter and spirit.
  • Special food on individual demand will not be prepared.
  • Meals should not be taken to rooms and self-cooking is not allowed.
  • All students are requested not to waste the food, if anybody found will be fined Rs.200/- on spot.
  • Students should stick to the meal timings.
General Rules & Regulations
  • Students are expected to use only courteous and polite language and behave with decorum with the faculty members and the staff of the College.
  • Students shall avoid using any insulting, inciting, threatening language when talking with fellow students and should abstain themselves from violence.
  • Students shall not talk or act in any manner inside or outside the institution/ Hospital / Hostel in a way that would bring disrepute to the College.
  • The students shall observe discipline in the clinical irrespective of the presence or absence of the faculty member.
  • No student is permitted to leave the classroom during class hours.
  • The students shall be regular and punctual in attending classes and all activities connected with the College.
  • Spitting, smoking and throwing bits of paper inside the college campus is prohibited.
  • Students are prohibited from damaging the building or any other property of the College in any way. The cost of any damage so caused will be recovered from the students collectively if the responsibility for it cannot be fixed on any individual or group of individuals.
  • Use of mobile phones within the college campus is strictly prohibited. Violation of this rule by any student will result in impounding of the Cell Phone and strict disciplinary action against the student.
  • The students must wear the Student Identity Card inside the College Campus.
  • Students should not involve themselves either directly or indirectly in any form of politics either inside or outside the College during their period of study. If a student fails to comply with this regulation, strict disciplinary action will be initiated against the student which may even result in the rustication of the student from the College.
  • Students are responsible for their belongings; the authority/management is not liable for them.
  • If a student changes his/her address, he/she must notify the Principal’s Office as soon as possible.
  • Students are expected to use Water or Electricity economically.
Disciplinary Action
  • Any act of indiscipline by any student will attract strict disciplinary action, including suspension/expulsion from the college/hostel.
  • Students are expected to follow the rules and regulations of the college and uphold the dignity and honor of the college at all times.

Oral warning/ written warning/Memo/Suspension will be issued depending on the decision of the disciplinary committee against the severity of the misconduct/disciplinary problems encountered.

OR

Termination: If the student found indulged in repeated misconduct, in spite of oral, written warning/ suspension from college she/he would be terminated from the college
